Streaming to Facebook Live
Facebook Live lets you stream to your profile, pages, or groups. pMix includes a built-in Facebook Live preset.
Getting your stream key
- Go to Facebook Live Producer
- Select where to post (your profile, a page, or a group)
- Under Stream Setup, select Use Stream Key
- Copy the Stream Key (the server URL is pre-configured in pMix)
Facebook stream keys are typically single-use — you’ll get a new one each time you create a live video.
Configuring pMix
- Open Settings → Streaming
- Select Facebook Live as the platform
- Paste your stream key
- Review the recommended settings:
| Setting | Recommended value |
|---|---|
| Resolution | 1920x1080 (or 1280x720) |
| Frame rate | 30 fps |
| Video codec | H.264 |
| Bitrate | 3000–6000 kbps |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds |
| Audio | AAC, 128 kbps |
Going live
- Tap Start in pMix’s output controls
- In Facebook Live Producer, you’ll see a preview once the connection is established
- Click Go Live in Facebook to make the stream visible to your audience
- When finished, tap Stop in pMix, then end the broadcast in Facebook
Tips
- Facebook requires you to click “Go Live” in their interface after pMix starts sending — the stream won’t be visible until you do
- 720p is often sufficient for Facebook — most viewers watch on mobile
- Stream keys expire — Get a fresh key each time you go live
- Page vs. Profile — Make sure you’re streaming to the correct destination in Facebook Live Producer
