Production Scenes

Production scenes let you save a complete mixer state — which source is on program, which overlays are active, and the audio mix — and recall it with a single tap. They’re like snapshots of your entire production setup that you can switch between during a live show.

How production scenes differ from composite scenes

  Production Scene Composite Scene
What it saves Program source, active overlays, audio levels Multi-source layout (PiP, grid, etc.)
Purpose Quick recall of full mixer states Multi-camera compositions
Switching Changes the entire mixer at once Acts as a single source

Production scenes are ideal for shows with repeating setups — for example, switching between a “host talking” state and a “demo with lower third” state.

Creating a production scene

From a template

  1. Open the Scenes panel
  2. Tap + next to Production Scenes
  3. Choose From Template
  4. Select a template:
Template Description
Camera Only Single source on program, no overlays
Camera + Lower Third Source on program with a text overlay active
Camera + Logo Source on program with an image overlay active
Camera + Countdown Source on program with a countdown overlay active
  1. Name the scene and assign sources

Capture current state

  1. Set up the mixer exactly how you want it — program source, overlays, audio
  2. Open the Scenes panel
  3. Tap + next to Production Scenes
  4. Choose Capture Current
  5. Name the scene

The scene captures the current program source, all active overlays, and the audio mix state.

Recalling a scene

Tap a production scene in the list to activate it. pMix applies:

  • The saved program source (with a transition)
  • The saved overlay state (which overlays are on/off)
  • The saved audio mix levels

The currently active scene shows a LIVE badge.

Managing scenes

Long-press a production scene for options:

Action Description
Edit Modify the scene’s program source, overlays, or audio levels
Duplicate Create a copy of the scene
Rename Change the scene name
Delete Remove the scene

You can also drag scenes in the list to reorder them.

Tips

  • Capture your key states early — Before going live, set up each look and capture it as a scene
  • Name scenes by content, not source — “Interview” is more useful than “Camera 2” during a live show
  • Combine with composite scenes — A production scene can reference a composite scene (like PiP) as its program source, giving you one-tap access to complex layouts with overlays
