Voice Control Setup
Requirements
- iPad with Apple Silicon (M1 or later)
- iPadOS 17.0 or later
- Microphone access (built-in or external)
Enabling voice control
- Open Settings in pMix
- Enable AI Voice Control
- If prompted, grant microphone access to pMix
Microphone selection
Voice control uses the iPad’s active microphone input:
- Built-in microphone — Works for quiet environments
- Headset microphone — Recommended for noisy venues (wired or Bluetooth)
- External microphone — USB-C microphones work well
Considerations
Audio monitoring conflict
If you’re using the iPad’s speaker for audio monitoring, the microphone may pick up the monitored audio. Use headphones for monitoring when voice control is active.
Background noise
Speech recognition accuracy decreases in noisy environments. For loud venues:
- Use a close-talking headset microphone
- Speak clearly and directly
- Use shorter, more direct commands
Local mic interaction
The local microphone input (for mixing into the program audio) is separate from the voice control microphone. Voice commands are processed locally and not included in your output audio.
